Donations and the Community
In 2005, Cambridge Firefighters Local 910, with the generous help of the Cambridge Fraternal Order of Eagles, raised over $30,000 for the purchase of a Fire Simulation Trailer. This trailer is used to educate children about fire safety, as well as severe weather training. The Fire Simulation Trailer is a miniature mobile home for children to walk through and experience. Features include: air conditioning, heat, ventilation, black/white camera system, operational smoke detectors, simulated smoke, bedroom, 911 phone system, and even a kitchen with functional 3-burner oven. These features can be controlled from a small central control room. The Local 910 donated the Fire Simulation Trailer to the City of Cambridge to be used by the Cambridge Fire Department as an educational fire safety tool for area children.

In 1998, Cambridge Firefighters Local 910, with the help of Agnes Weaver of Aggie's Termite and Pest Control, raised $48,000 to purchase a Thermal Imaging unit. The unit included a Carins Iris, helmet mounted, Thermal Imager and a Bullard hand-held Thermal Imager. This equipment allows firefighters to see through smoke filled buildings based on an object's temperature. The Union donated the unit to the City of Cambridge for use by the Cambridge Fire Dept.
